Claude connector
The BioSkepsis connector lets you run a full research run without leaving Claude. Ask a biomedical question in a Claude chat, and BioSkepsis plans the work, searches and reads the literature, screens for retractions, and hands back a citation-grounded brief, the same brief you would get in the BioSkepsis app.
#What the connector is
BioSkepsis is available to Claude as a remote connector built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once you connect it, Claude can start a BioSkepsis research run on your behalf, track its progress, and return the finished brief inside your conversation. The run itself executes on BioSkepsis using your account, so it draws on the same 40M+ paper corpus, full-text reading, evidence weighing, and Trust Index you get in the app.
#Before you connect
- A BioSkepsis account. You sign in with your existing account during the connection step. If you do not have one yet, create it at app.bioskepsis.ai.
- Available runs on your plan. Each research run uses one of your plan's monthly briefs (Basic includes 1, Plus 4, and higher tiers more). When you are out of monthly runs, Claude will tell you, and you can upgrade or wait for the next cycle.
- A Claude surface that supports connectors. Custom connectors can be added on Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and the Claude mobile apps.
#Connecting BioSkepsis to Claude
You connect once, and Claude remembers it for future chats.
- Open connector settings in Claude. Go to Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
- Enter the BioSkepsis server URL. Use
https://app.bioskepsis.ai/api/mcpand continue. - Sign in to BioSkepsis. A BioSkepsis sign-in screen opens. Approve access, and Claude is connected to your account. Your BioSkepsis password is never shared with Claude; access is granted through a standard sign-in.
- Start researching. Open a new chat and ask Claude to research a biomedical question using BioSkepsis.
#What you can do from Claude
After connecting, Claude can, on your request:
- Start a research run on a biomedical question and get back an id it uses to track the run.
- Check a run's progress, including the current phase and how many papers it has gathered so far.
- Fetch the finished brief: a headline answer, the brief in full, ranked and tiered sources, sub-question coverage, and a Trust Index score.
- Browse and re-open your recent briefs from your BioSkepsis account.
#How a research run works in Claude
A run is not instant. It typically takes several minutes (usually 3 to 8, sometimes longer), because BioSkepsis is reading full-text papers and verifying citations, not returning a list of links. Claude starts the run, checks the status while it works, and returns the brief once it is ready. You can keep chatting in the meantime.
#Privacy and your data
Runs started from Claude are processed exactly like runs started in the app. Your research questions and briefs are handled to produce the result and are retained under your BioSkepsis account, and your content is never used to train models. See the Privacy Notice for how data is collected, processed, and protected, and for how to delete it.
#Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Claude cannot reach BioSkepsis | Confirm the server URL is https://app.bioskepsis.ai/api/mcp. If it was connected before, remove and re-add the connector to sign in again. |
| Claude says you have reached your usage limit | Each run uses one of your plan's monthly briefs. Upgrade your plan or wait for your allowance to reset, then start the run again. |
| The run seems to take a long time | That is expected. A full run runs for several minutes while it reads papers and verifies citations; Claude checks progress and returns the brief when it is done. |
| The question was declined | BioSkepsis answers biomedical and life-science research questions. If a request is outside that scope, the run is declined with a short explanation. |
